Joy in Sandwell over High Court victory on school cuts
Sandwell Council was today celebrating winning its High Court case with the Government over the borough's multi-million pound schools modernisation programme.
Mr Justice Holman said Secretary of State Michael Gove's decision to scrap the £138 million project was "an abuse of power".
A jubilant Council Leader Cllr Darren Cooper said: "At the very least we have been vindicated for bringing the action. Now we have to wait to see whether the Government accepts it was too hasty in scrapping the scheme. We have just got to wait with fingers crossed."
